Volunteer Profile: Charlotte Wilson

It’s National Volunteer Week (2020) and we are profiling some of our amazing Carizon volunteers who donate their time and talent to our community.

Today, we have the opportunity to profile Charlotte Wilson:

Tell us a little bit about yourself.  I am a retired Registered nurse with 3 children and 7 grandchildren.
What is your volunteer/student role?  Admin Support – Client Reminder Calls
How long have you been with Carizon?  Since 2009
Why did you choose Carizon?  I was looking for a volunteer opportunity when I heard, at a church group, that Mosaic (in 2009) was looking for people to start making reminder calls for counseling appointments. I applied and in November 2009 I started.
What do you enjoy most about working with us?  I enjoyed working with the receptionistsMona, Wendy, Marg, and most recently, Bettina and Ryan. They were always so friendly and caring and made me feel respected and an important part of the team. I also enjoyed calling the clients who were appreciative of the reminder.
Tell us about some of the skills you’ve been able to use and/or develop.  It was a job that suited my love of interacting with people and did not require too much physical effort other than pushing buttons. It also gave me a reason to get up and go out 2 days a week which I may not have done if I had not made the commitment to be there.
What would you tell someone who was considering volunteering or doing their student placement with us?   I can recommend volunteering at Carizon with whatever talent you have as you will be welcomed with open arms and treated with respect.

Thank you, Charlotte! You are an integral part of the Carizon Family!
