It’s National Volunteer Week (2020) and we are profiling some of our amazing Carizon volunteers who donate their time and talent to our community.
Today’s profile and round of applause goes to Jill Kolb:
Tell us a little bit about yourself. | I’m a local young professional working in the communication and engagement sector. |
What is your volunteer / student role? | I’m a Youth Mentor with the Pathways to Education program. |
How long have you been with Carizon? | Since January 2020, however, I’ve been connected to the organization in various ways, taking advantage of its excellent programs for about 4 years. |
Why did you choose Carizon? | I have had the BEST experience working with practitioners or alongside volunteers at Carizon. It is truly an amazing organization. |
What do you enjoy most about working with us? | The caring, relaxed people connected to the organization are incredible. |
Tell us about some of the skills you’ve been able to use and/or develop. | I’ve been able to develop more as a human working with Carizon. I’ve definitely developed more empathy, self-compassion, leadership, and more advanced social skills. |
What would you tell someone who was considering volunteering or doing their student placement with us? | I would 100% endorse people volunteering or seeking out placements with Carizon. From the amazing people to the challenging yet rewarding work, this place helps to give meaning and hope to people and our lives. It’s a fantastic organization! |
